Re: Do I need to purchase Exchange to share the calendar?Any other suggestions? We need a LOCAL solution.
We do not want "cloud" options that puts our sensitive data in blind trust w/ 3rd party vendors/hosts and MITM snoops. We do not want our accessibility dependent on an outside connection or webserver that may not be accessible at ANY TIME. BTW, PJ: Small Biz Server 2003 can be set-up in office for ~$2000(licenses, hardware, install) and will eventually require service by a technician. <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/291627>http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/291627</a> Will be trying this tomorrow, but I believe I read this was disabled by a "security update" recently...you know, for our own protection. An Exchange server can be a local solution as you can place the server in
your own Office. There are various solution focused on sharing by 3rd party software developers as well. See http://www.howto-outlook.com/tag/sharing As you didn't quote the original post, probably including current configuration and usage information, it is hard to offer any specific solutions that would fit your environment. -- Show quoteHide quoteRobert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "tunaP" <tu***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:FD5DB8B1-BB0C-4D93-A599-25AA020A705B@microsoft.com... > Any other suggestions? Thanx for the reply, Roady. The server is the optimal solution, but SBS cost
is high for an office w/ 2 employees, 2 computers and 2 mobiles. The workaround I posted did not work suitably. We've been down the 3rd party app road, paid good money for poorly coded apps that crash and lock my data into proprietary formats. In fact, I spent Saturday extracting for migration to Outlook.(sure the 12k eml's was just time consuming, the 8 years of appointments & 400 vcards w/ nicknames in quotes was just painful). I know I can always pay more, but I'll be building an Apache this weekend instead.
