outlookAll of a sudden my outlook client keeps asking for username and password
I know this is an age old problem but does any one have a idea on how to fix it. I have outlook 2002 thru outlook 2007 it happens all all versions of the client from time to time My ISP email system went down for several hours one day and ever since then it has happened Thanks Tom Normally that means the username/password that is stored locally does not
match the username/password on the ISP's server. Have you verified that they match? If your IPS offers webmail, you can test your username/password that way, without needing the ISP to check it for you. Thanks for the info Problem is that the passwords are the same and have been the same for ever. The ISP had a major outage a few weeks ago and ever since then it has been happening. Maybe I should change the password on all my email accounts? Any thoughts Thanks Tom Show quoteHide quote "JohnB" <jbri***@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:Oebxhs76JHA.4116@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Normally that means the username/password that is stored locally does not > match the username/password on the ISP's server. > Have you verified that they match? > If your IPS offers webmail, you can test your username/password that way, > without needing the ISP to check it for you. > > > > > "Thomas R Grassi Jr" <thomasgra***@hotmail.com> wrote in message > news:%23Vzymy36JHA.4116@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... >> All of a sudden my outlook client keeps asking for username and password >> >> I know this is an age old problem but does any one have a idea on how to >> fix it. >> >> I have outlook 2002 thru outlook 2007 it happens all all versions of the >> client from time to time >> >> My ISP email system went down for several hours one day and ever since >> then it has happened >> >> >> Thanks >> >> Tom >> > > > If you can't test existing username/password with webmail, yes, I would
change the passwords. It's always good to first eliminate the basics first, which is what that would do. At the same time, verify all your other account settings in Outlook with what the ISP says they should be; just in case they changed anything. If the POP3 or SMTP email server names changed, you'd get that message. And any other *server* settings that they changed would cause that message. It's probably very unlikely they changed any of that, without telling their customers but, it's good not to assume anything.
