All Outlook 2007 PST files Unicode, 20GB limit? If we are using Outlook 2007 does that mean the PST file is Unicode and not
ANSI, and the file limit is 20GB instead of 2GB. Is it possible that the file size limit may still be 2GB if it was orginally created on an older version of Outlook? PST files created by Outlook 2003 and 2007 are UNICODE and have the new size
limits (unless of course your disk is in an older FAT format). Older versions of Outlook used ANSI, and the file limit was actually well below 2G. Only you could know in which version your PST file was created. -- Show quoteHide quoteRuss Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Al Franz" <albert@nospam.netmation.com> wrote in message news:%23BVYNmlrJHA.4592@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > If we are using Outlook 2007 does that mean the PST file is Unicode and > not ANSI, and the file limit is 20GB instead of 2GB. Therefore if carrying over an old PST from your Outlook 97/2002 days, then the file will still retain the legacy file size limitations of 2GB and 65536 items per folder. (Only option is to create a new PST file and then copy/import from old to new.) As for the Unicode side of the house, it is really about the file system. You can't expect to reach 20GB when storing said file on a FAT32 formatted partition. The file system needs to be NTFS if you expect to realize the soft limit of 20GB.
