Can you help an Outlook 2007 newbie?

Hi
I used to use outlook express, but installed Office 2007 suite and
want to use Outlook

2 problems

1. I have 3 email accounts.  I want to use a signature with html
hyper-link.  I set it up in Tools/Options/Mail Format/Signatures.  I
gave it a name in the upper box and put my message, with the
hyperlink, in the lower box.  On the right, I selected <none> for the
first and second email accounts, and selected the signature name that
I want for the third account.  I did a 'save'.

However, when I make a new email, and select the third email account,
the signature doesn't appear.

What am I doing wrong?

2. Messages that I receive that have graphics give me the message
'outlook prevented automatic download of this picture from the
internet'.  How can I turn this off so everything is downloaded and
displayed?

Thank you for your help.

1. Make a signature that is called Blank that has just two dashes (so you
can see where it begins). Use this instead of no signature. See
http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/signatures.htm

2.  tools, options, junk email... or r-click on the infobar and choose the
change settings option.

Diane, thank you for your response.

1. Fixed.

2. Tools/Options/Junk Email opens to a window where there are 8
options.  None of them show anything like how to turn on viewing
pictures.  This isn't junk email...just regular stuff.  I get a weekly
newsletter that contains graphics that I can no longer see, but I want
to.  Any suggestions? I am using 2007.

Click on the infobar (the blue bar under the subject in the preview pane or
opened message - where it says 'click here to download picture' ) and choose
the option to change download settings.

Nothing ;-). This behavior is made by design. You have to set a standard
signature for every account, at least for your standard account. When
you then change the sending account to another account that also has a
signature, whose signature will appear. But when you switch to an
account without a signature and back again to an account that has one,
the signature won't appear. This is due to that the signature style is
deleted from the message when you change the account ¡V and it doesn't
come back when you switch to an account that has a signature. Therefore
use a blank signature for the accounts that has no own signature.

Christian, thank you for your response.

As suggested by Diane in another reply, I set up a blank signature
with just a couple of dashes.  That worked.

I still can't see graphics in my emails.  I get a weekly newsletter
that has graphics that I would like to see.

I went to Tools/Options/Junk Email and there are 8 choices, but none
of them are "Security", and there isn't any  Button "Change Automatic
Download Settings".

Perhaps you are referring to a different version of Outlook.  I am
using Office Outlook 2007.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Hmmm... I've been following this thread with interest and I don't have a
Security tab.  Just Preferences, Mail Setup, Mail Format, Spelling and
Other.

Whenever I want to see pictures downloaded I just add that sender to my Safe
Senders list.  If I don't consider them a safe sender then for a once-only
download I'll click "Download pictures" in the message header.

Interesting that my Security tab is missing, though.  I never missed it
because I never knew it was supposed to be there.

Tools, trust center, security tab in 2007. Or click on the infobar at the
top of the message and choose the option to change settings.

My preference is to not download content  - not even from people in my
address book - and download only the stuff I want to see, which is very,
very little.

Thanks, Diane.  Hopefully that should also sort out any confusion for the OP
if he hasn't already sorted it.

I keep forgetting 2003 doesn't have the same tools, accounts dialog as 2007.
I'm always thinking they had the redesign in 2003.
