how can i stop my old mails to be download in my outlook?

Hi,
I want to startto useMicrosoft  outlook 2007 with my existing gmail Id.
But I dont want to receive all old mails from my gmail account to my outlook.

please inform me what settings to do for receiveing new mails from today only

leaving mail in their application.

Go to Settings-Forwarding and POP in GMail and you can tell it there to
only download mail from a date that you specify...

That's the gmail default for POP accounts.  Gmail itself keeps track of
messages it has downloaded to a POP c lient (any POP client) and will not
download them again unless you specifically tell it to do that.  If you
configure the account as an IMAP account, then you'll see all of your mail,
but it doesn't download it in the same manner as for a POP account.
