So just HOW did you get this "new" copy of Outlook that didn't include
an installation CD?

WOW!  Lots of suspicious characters out there... :)  I have the disc at my
home office (somewheres) and now have this laptop at work where I want to get
rid of the ridiculous Verizon mail.

The suspicion continues.  How many want to venture that jack has an OEM
version that he is trying to install a multiple number of times?

If he really did have the disc at work, he would've just waited until
tomorrow to go to work and remember to bring it "home" to install it on
his "work" laptop.

Hmm, Verizon actually has an local e-mail client?  Methinks he confuses
the webmail interface (via web browser) with a local e-mail client.
Well, he doesn't particularly need Outlook as a local e-mail client for
his personal laptop and possible violate the EULA for his MS Office
product but could just install Windows Mail, Thunderbird, Pegasus, or
another free e-mail client.

I still smell fish.

Yes, I have the OEM and you Get THREE Licenses.  And I have Windows mail and
it not only stinks, it crashed and the only way to get it back is to back up
and restore the entire system so I am trying to avoid that.  But thanks
everybody anyways.

I guess the bottom line is until I find my disc I'm out of luck.

Not if you have a friend who has the same type of disc. You can use it
with your license and copy it if you like.

You could also consider Thunderbird as an email program that is much
better than Windows Fail, no disc needed and can be gotten free from
http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird.

P.S. Ignore the MS fanboys and girls who accuse you of theft and piracy.
They can't become MVPs unless they do that on a regular basis. It's
called kissing MS' ass because MS assumes that ALL of their customers
are thieves until they prove otherwise at least twice.

Alias is well known for pushing the limits of any license (i.e., he
doesn't care if he can get away with it).  Don't consider his advice as
useful guidance on how to remain compliant regarding ANY contract to
which you chose to become a party.  Alias' motto is "It's not illegal if
you don't get caught."  This same attitude is why the company's supply
cabinets go bare when school starts.

No, I'm not an MVP.  Nor am I an MVP in training.  I got offered a
nomination but declined because I wasn't interested in being complacent
in my posts and having to look like some MS representative.

That jack has the 3-license version is now known.  Odd he chose to hide
that fact.  I have seen these versions sold at Newegg and they were
legitimate (not volume licenses sliced up and sold off separately).
jack could try to find a "friend" with the same installation CD but then
by the time he finds this friend and travels there to get the CD then he
could've done the same with the CD he has back at work.

However, while jack has a 3-license version, that doesn't let him parse
it outside the same entity or organization that purchased the license.
If his company bought the license, all 3 licenses are only to be use
within that company and on their property.  jack doesn't get a
personal-use copy of the company's license.  And visa versa if this was
his personally purchased copy which then shouldn't be installed on the
company's property.  So, yes, he may have a 3-license version but it
appears he is slicing it up to violate the EULA.  Still smells fishy.

Oops, I did err.

- jack says he has an OEM version.
- jack says its license allows 3 concurrent installs on different hosts.

Nope, only the *retail* version comes in the 3-user, 1-license flavor.
You cannot slice the license across different entities.  You can't use
one at home (that isn't your company's property) and another at work.
You can't give a copy to your schoolmate.  You can't sell off 2 copies
and keep the 3rd.

Also, I believe the 3-user, 1-license version is only available for
"Microsoft Office 2007 Student & Home".   Well, that definitely means it
cannot be installed on a host use for business, like at jack's work.
Also, the Student & Home Edition does NOT include Outlook!  See
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/FX101635841033.aspx.  Volume
license has a minimum of 5 licenses, not 3, plus you cannot slice up the
license across organizations/entities.

Getting even more fishy.  Wonder what next creative story jack will
offer next.

False.

Yet you post the same crap as the others do and assume everyone is a
thief until they prove you wrong.

Wow, everything Alias says is unique to Alias.  He never happens to have

Your reading comprehension problem is raising its ugly head again. I
wrote "as *the* others do", with "the others" meaning MVPs who always
assume piracy like you do.

Understand now?

Please cite even ONE instance where ANY MVP accused someone of theft or
piracy.  What's that?  You can't?  Thought so.

You're the one making the accusation.  The onus is upon you to supply the
proof.  None of the Outlook MVPs have made such accusations.

One of the reasons why I turned down the nomination because I didn't
want the title and image responsibility getting in the way of my, um,
style.

You assume that I care if you believe me or not. I don't. If you want to
substantiate my claims, use Google. I have had MVPs falsely accuse ME of
piracy so I know it's true. I don't, however, have the inclination to do
your research for you.

That's not usually true for OEM licenses.  OEM license terms usually allow
installing only on the PC with which the software was licensed originally and
the license follows the hardware.  If you sell or give away the original
system, the licenses go with it.  If the original system is decommissioned
entirely, the licenses cannot used on another system.  Retail licenses, on the
other hand, often allow installation on more than a single PC.
