After reloading PC and copying PST file over, Outlook not sending email properly

Prior to reformatting my HD and reloading my system, I saved my PST
file off to the side.  After reloading Office on my machine and before
opening Outlook, I put the PST file back in place (..\local
settings\application data\microsoft\outlook).  I open Outlook and all
my emails are there.  After setting up my incoming and outgoing
servers, I can receive mail fine.  I can type in an email address and
send it fine.  I go to my Contacts folder and all my contacts are fine
and if I right-click one of them and select "New Message to Contact",
I can send an email to that person just fine.

However ... if I open a new email and try to type the person's name in
the "To" field, it never reconciles the name with the email address
for that person in the Contact list.  If I click the "To" button to
find the person in my Contact list, I get a dialog box that says:

"The address list could not be displayed.  The Contacts folder
associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have
been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions.  For more
information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address
Book, see Microsoft Outlook Help."

Can someone help me understand what I need to do to get access to the
Contact list from a new email and have names in the "To" line of an
email reconciled against their record in the Contacts list?

TIA,
Robert

The auto complete details come from the 'username'.nk2 file & if you didnt
save the old one they have been lost. The file wont be repopulated untill
you have enterd a number of addresses

You have to set the Contacts to 'use as a windows address book' see help

Your method of copying the old pst to the default location will probably
have resulted in overwriting an existing pst and as such may have corrupted
the pst and or the Profile

It is likely you damaged your mail profile by overwriting the PST that the
reinstallation of Outlook created.  Create a new one.  Control Panel>Mail>Show
Profiles>Add
