Downloading via OutlookHi all,
I have some 2,500 e-mails stored in my internet mailer, on-line (haven't used mailer software for several years, only an on-line mail interface). Now, I intend to download a certain amount of those messages (2,000 e-mails) to my computer, e.g. via Outlook. How can I do it? 1) Can I pull messages from the server and have a copy still stored in the web interface? 2) Can I filter the messages pulled, i.e. pull only certain messages and other leave as they are? 3) Is it not likely that Outlook will collapse when pulling 2,000 to 3,000 messages? Thanks! -- LucyD85 1. Yes. Set Outlook to "Leave a copy of mail on the server".
2. Nope, everything in the server inbox folder will download. If you can create folders on the server with the web interface, move whatever you do not want downloaded into some other folder. 3. Collapse? It may take a while, 2000 messages should be no problem. Note that if your ISP offers IMAP service, none of your questions really matter since IMAP leaves everything on the server so it is available from anywhere; Outlook would essentially provide a window to your server folders.
