Hotmail Intercepts all my e-mail

I have recently set up a new ISP account on an established standalone
desktop.  I have set up a mail account with the new ISP and have set that as
my default mail however my existing hotmailaccount intercepts all my mail and
re-directs it there.  How do I turn off this feature?

What exactly do you mean by "my existing hotmail account intercepts all my
mail "

You do not use the same Sign in Name and\or Password for both since it happened here
also with POP3

what version of Outlook? Is hotmail set as the default delivery location? If
so, you need to make a new pst (File, New, outlook data file) and use rules
to put the mail in a different folder. If 2007, you can set the new pst as
the delivery location instead of using rules.
