I upgraded to office 2007 in exchange 2003 environment and now I can see my
contacts under the contacts tab, but that folder isnt available from the
email menu when you create a message.   I looked at the properties and it
does have make available to address book checked and greyed out.  What else
could I try to get these all available when creating a new email message

Regards
Carl

Select the Tools menu in Outlook | Account Settings... | Address Books |
New... | Additional Address Books | Next | Outlook Address Book | Next |
Finish.

Restart Outlook.

How about now?

Ok

Back into Tools | Account Settings... | Address Books

Select Outlook Address Book and then select Change...

Is your Contacts folder listed there?

If so, I guess I need more clarification on how exactly you're trying to
address a message when you notice the Contacts are not available.

Yes, it is there.  When user creates a message and pulls the contacts folder
it doesnt display those contacts.

They  select  To:
then the GAL appears, the hit show names from and pull there folder
contacts,
from there they have a small older contacts folder.   The user would like
the correct contacts folder
under the cotacts tab to display.   They said it worked always with 2003.

OK, give this a try

Back into Tools | Account Settings... | Address Books

Select Outlook Address Book and then select Change...

Select that Contacts folder and Remove it

Select Close | Close. Restart Outlook

Go to the Contacts folder | Right click | Properties | Outlook Address Book
tab | re-check the option to show as an address book

Check to see if it's working now.

Alternatively, you could remove the Outlook Address Book service, restart
Outlook, and re-add it.

My apologies. I guess I made a false statement. As Diane noted, it appears
you cannot remove and re-add the Outlook Address Book service.

If you're back in Tools | Account Settings... | Address Books, do you see
anything else listed there, such as Mobile Address Book? If so, remove it.

When you view the folder list in Outlook, are you seeing any other Contacts
folders? In Tools | Address Book, what exactly are the entries listed in the
drop-down box under Address Book?

A complete straw-grasp here, but just for giggles, try closing Outlook,
select Start | Run, enter   outlook.exe /resetfolders    (note the space
before the "/"), and select OK

Upgrading to Outlook 2007 often creates a mail profile witrh a broken OAB
service.  It's usually repaired by creating a new profile.

If you have Contacts in the Contacts folder but they are not accessible when
you click on the To button, check these settings:

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book is checked?

If you are using Outlook 2007 and the the checkbox is grayed, you'll need to
make a new profile as you can't add the Outlook Address Book service due to
a bug.

We tried creating a new profile and no luck.
Again, the correct contacts show up in the contacts folder, and they are
visible to the address book.  But when composing a message, we get some
other small
contacts list when we select that contacts folder.   Never saw this before.

if you click the drop down on the right, do you see the correct contact
list?  if so, open the address book from the Tools menu, go to its tools,
options menu and change the list that is shown first.
