Outlook 2007 freezes

Hi

We're facing with a problem when Outlook 2007 (running on WinXP Pro)
send/receives a mail. During that time, everything freezes (Outlook and all
other applications in Windows), so users need to wait about 10-15sec to
continue with work.
Have tried to disable all add-ons and antivirus software, but without any
improvements. We don't have any problems with computers that are using
Outlook 2003, problem is only with a new ones (using Outlook 2007).
We don't have an Exchange mail server, so all client accounts are POP3 (mail
server running on Linux).
Any issue how to solve this will be very appriciated.

Regards,Miha

How frequent is the polling interval?
If you run in safe mode (win) does it reoccur?

Adobe Acrobat's PDFMaker Add-in to Outlook disables program's normal
operation.
PDFMOutlook add-in can be removed via the Trust Center menu in Outlook Tools
menu (under COM Add-ins). If permissions not properly set in Office 2007, the
add-in cannot be removed and you receive the inscrutable message "The
connected state of Office Add-Ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be
changed." Permissions can be changed by right-clicking the Office 2007
program icon in the Start menu and selecting Properties, then Security, then
Edit Permissions. After PDFMOutlook was removed by this procedure, my Outlook
2007 crash problems seemed to be resolved.

Yea, PDFMaker has been mentioned a myriad of times in these newsgroups as
causing conflicts with Outlook.  Care must be taken to make sure the version
of PDFMaker installed is compatible with the version of Outlook in use, and
then then, it may be problematic.

Hi

Thank you all for help. Pooling interval is set to 10min. Have also tried to
run Outlook in safe mode without any differences.
The patch was allready installed on a machine, also there are not Adobe
plugins. PST file is 4 GB large.
Any other ideas what could cause this?

Sounds like it is time to do some clean up on the PST file.

4 gb in a unicode format .pst file is completely manageable - no need for any cleanup.

Yes I know, we have much larger .pst files in Outlook2003 without any
problems.
Looks like an internal problem with this version of Outlook (2007). Can't
know why with any new versions there are problems (Vista,Office/Outlook)...
Thank's Microsoft!. More and more I am thinking of moving to an open source
solutions.

Yes, we all know that open source projects have no issues, security patches, blow-ups or anything else that big bad old Microsoft has.
