How do I transfer messages & addresses from Microsoft Mail to Out.

I recently bought a new computer with Vista and installed my Office 2003 with
Outlook.  When I had all my e-mail messages and addresses transferred from my
old computer, where I used Outlook Express, it was loaded into Microsoft Mail
by the person who did the transfer.  Microsoft Mail does not have a lot of
the features I liked on Outlook Express so I want to transfer all my messages
and addresses from Mail to Outlook.  I went to Outlook and unfortunately it
does not list Microsoft Mail as one of the programs it can import into.  Da,
Microsoft Mail was not around in 03.  Can someone please advise me the step
by step process to transfer all my messages and address book from Microsoft
Mail to Outlook 03?  Thank you very much.

Firstly, it's not "Microsoft" mail - it's Windows Mail. Microsoft Mail
existed under Windows 3.1!
Have you looked at exporting FROM Windows mail?

Hello Gordon,

Yes I did.  When I went to "exporting" from Windows Mail, the wizard asked
where I wanted to export "to", Microsoft Exchange or Windows Mail.  Nothing
about Outlook....

Thanks.

Choose the "Exchange"  option - you then get another screen saying "Exchange
or Outlook"....

Gordon,

What about my addresses?  It says CSV or vCard?  Which one should I choose?

neither. In Outlook go to File-Import and export , import Internet mail and
addresses, and you should have the option to import from Windows mail
(unless that's purely an outlook 2007 option....) UNCHECK the mil option,
leaving the Addresses option checked.

I still don't see why you can't import from Outlook. I would not expect
Windows Mail to be listed, but you should still be able to access the
addresses via the Outlook Express path.

True, but then the message dates probably would change to match the date of
import.

Of course, but the OP was asking about Contacts here, not messages.
