Cannot view inbox by dateAfter a successful test of an Exchange 2003 High Availability product
last night a few users have reported issues in Outlook this morning. They cannot view/arrange their Inbox by Date. We have tried /cleanviews switch to no avail. All other views work fine. Any ideas so I can prevent this happening again? Thanks PocketJacks <dall***@hotmail.com> wrote:

It appears completely blank. When the user changes the view to FROM or any of the other options, there's no problem viewing all the mails. The users were logged onto both the PC and a Terminal Services session to rule out any issues on the PC. The Inbox appeared the same both times. What view are they using before the cvhange and what view do they choose to which to change that allows the mail to be seen? Why don't they simply continue to use a view that allows the messages to be seen? What version of Outlook? What fields are being displayed in the view with the problem? To which "Date" do you refer, since there is no field in Outlook with just the label "Date". -- Brian Tillman Brian,
Thanks for getting back to me. I'll answer your questions in the order you asked them: What view are they using that shows blank? They are using Arrange by Date view. On what column is the view sorted, if any? When you Arrange the view by Date it automatically sorts the view by using the Received column What do you mean by "changed view to FROM"? There is no "From" view in Outlook. Yes there is a "From" view in Outlook. Go to View - Arrange by - From. That's what I meant from my statement. The default view is by Date (which shows an empty screen). When this view is changed to "From", all the mails in the Inbox appear. What view are they using before the cvhange and what view do they choose to which to change that allows the mail to be seen? By default all users are using the arrange by Date view. Any other view would display the mails in the Inbox (e.g. conversation, from, size, subject etc.) Why don't they simply continue to use a view that allows the messages to be seen? It's the default view they have always used and their preferred view. This is the view they want to use. What version of Outlook? Outlook 2003. Build 11.5608.5606 What fields are being displayed in the view with the problem? The default fields are used - Header Status, Importance, Flag Status, Icon, Attachment, From, Subject, Received, Size. To which "Date" do you refer, since there is no field in Outlook with just the label "Date". There is no Date field but the Received field corresponds to the Date view. If stored in groups the view will display them as Today, Yesterday, Last week etc. Thanks again Brian Tillman wrote: Show quote > PocketJacks <dall***@hotmail.com> wrote: > > > It appears completely blank. Apologies if I was a little unclear in my descriptions. The support guys here fixed the issue by recreating the user's mailbox on the Exchange and re-importing their mails back into the newly created mailbox. This solved all the problems which indicates that the problem may have been within the mailbox on the Exchange server. I do not have any clients to test on but I remember sorting by the Received column and the inbox still appeared blank. I also noticed some database corruption events on the Exchange server (events 447 and 467). I have advised the customer to run an eseutil on the database when they get a chance. I will let you know the results of that.
